We recommend and provide fluoride treatments to all of our patients in need of it – both kids and adults – at every visit.
[ Emergency Care ]
At Sierra Smiles Reno, we are here for you! We know some things are out of your control, and in spite of our schedules, emergencies happen. We will help you get out of pain and prevent future emergencies. Please contact the office by phone so we can help you with your dental emergency as soon as possible.
[ Mouthguards ]
If you wake up with unexplained jaw pain or a dull headache, or if your teeth seem to be loose or painful for no good reason, you may be grinding your teeth at night. Grinding of teeth, or bruxism, can be a side effect of a sleeping disorder or excess stress. You may also grind your teeth if your bite is not in alignment. Whatever the cause, this nighttime habit can wreak havoc on your dental health. While we investigate to figure out why you’re grinding your teeth, Sierra Smiles Reno can provide a custom mouthguard to protect your teeth so you can sleep peacefully.
We also offer custom-fitted sports mouthguards which are perfect for active children and adults, protecting teeth and the surrounding areas from injury.
[ Hygiene ]
Good dental health starts with good dental hygiene. At Sierra Smiles Reno, we work with you to provide answers to your hygiene questions or give you tips to keep your teeth looking and feeling their best between office visits. When you see us in hygiene, our talented hygienists use ultrasonic technology as part of your routine cleaning to give you the best care available. What this means for you is seriously clean teeth in an efficient, pain-free manner.
At Sierra Smiles Reno we have implemented the use of intraoral cameras for patients to see what we see! Though they may look like high-tech magic wands, these intraoral cameras provide an effective, non-invasive way to show you the full picture of your mouth. As we show you images on-screen, we can review and discuss the most appropriate plan for you.
[ DIAGNOdent ]
At Sierra Smiles Reno, we enjoy high-technology equipment, and DIAGNOdent is one of our favorites. DIAGNOdent uses laser technology to help our team detect tooth decay before it’s visible to the naked eye. By discovering the decay early, we can take steps to prevent more advanced issues. DIAGNOdent doesn’t cause the patient any pain and will cause no damage to surrounding tissue, providing us with a safe and efficient means to give you the best possible preventive care.
[ Digital X-rays ]
At Sierra Smiles Reno, we use digital x-rays as part of your comprehensive exam. Digital x-rays expose our patients to less radiation than traditional x-rays and allow us to show you the results in an instant on a computer, or in-office TV. With a full picture of your dental health, we can discuss any concerns or treatment you may need or reassure you that you’re in excellent dental health.
As part of each visit at Sierra Smiles Reno, our team will conduct a visual and hands-on check for signs of oral cancer. We’ll point out anything unusual like swelling, bleeding, unexplained spots, or pain. We can also use the new VELscope technology to supplement the traditional screening. The VELscope is a handheld, non-invasive device that emits blue light to help detect abnormalities of the tongue and mouth that cannot be seen or felt. The screening takes less than two minutes and can help catch potential issues early so we can keep you as healthy as possible for years to come.
[ Sealants ]
Many permanent teeth erupt into the mouth with deep pits and grooves on the chewing surface. These deep fissures are difficult or impossible to keep clean with a tooth brush, and they become a natural place for tooth decay to strike a newly erupted tooth. We have found dental sealants to be a safe, painless and low-cost way to help protect teeth from decay. A sealant is a thin, plastic, translucent coating bonded to the chewing surfaces of the molars and premolar teeth. This fills in the deep grooves of the teeth and acts as a shield to keep food and bacteria from getting into the tooth.
